After covid people’s attention span isn’t long. They need answers quick without context and that gets lost. With tattoo artist just as your mechanic how much is payed for the work is what you’re going to get. If you go to anyone you want work done and they set their price and you reply with “I can get that done somewhere else for cheap” is a broke cope out. With tattoos it’s on your body forever yet when the price is mentioned you say you can get it cheaper?! Then you don’t value your body as much.

Question: I have a drawing of my likeness as a Native American in full head gear done by an artist in my hometown area. My question is, is it okay to ask another tattoo artist to recreate it, obviously with their own touch. I wish I remember the guys name, because I’d hella go back and find him and have him do it. So how would I go about that?

Just got a chest piece today, just a little ornament in the centre, less than 2 hours, all blackwork. Mostly a 4 or 5 out of 10, pain-wise, but the flipping sternum was a 10 out of 10. I felt like I was being stabbed with lava knives, with electrical shocks radiating out in waves. The weirdest part was how small the painful spot was, and how the area around it wasn't nearly as painful. I'd be vibing along to the music, feeling ok, then the needle passed over my sternum and everything turned to red static. My calf was my most painful tattoo, because that was 7.5 hours of mid-to-high pain with lots of colour-packing, but the sternum was the absolute worst as far as sheer pain goes.

Worst explanation ever. It’s like falling while roller blading and sliding. It’s a burning sensation with sometimes a pinching pain when it hits a nerve. Ribs are also hit or miss for different ppl. My ribs didnt hurt as much as my chest or my back.

I got a tattoo on my inner forearm in halfway through it it felt like he was digging into my inner elbow. I told the tattoo artist about it he's like oh yeah man it's nerves. He said he was getting a tattoo on his upper chest and it felt like at one point the guy was digging in his nipple but he was nowhere near it. Lol

I have a blowout on a crescent moon tattoo on the inside of my arm. I like to say it's the moonlight but I'm pissed about it happening.

This tattoo artist reminded me of all the annoying tattoo artist I went to see when I was getting my tattoo. I get it you have too much work and can turn work away. In my case I wasn't asking for a favor I was paying like anyone else. But some tattoo artist acted as if they were doing me a favor. I finally found one that was pretty cool and my tattoo came out great.

Just pick it up a few days ago. My wife impulsively bought a tattoo machine from Amazon and I've done about 8 good tattoos, or at least the person that has I did the tattoo for is happy. So it must be good.

If the client is paying you good money, it's your job to tattoo whatever the heck they want! Maybe choose a different career path if you hate it that much? No one likes every aspect of their job. 🤔 Being a tattoo artist is still better than other jobs out there.

All local tattoo shops said no over the phone for apprenticeship! I’m going to get my license before I tattoo anyone cuz I don’t want to be the hook up artist that doesn’t get taken seriously.

I used to be an in technician and the base where are you putting the ink on makes a difference the screen they call it.. and a very light color can get darker really easy because of the screen quote on quote

I have darker skin and he put white ink for my first tattoo and during the healing process it mainly all fell out

I'm not sure why this showed up in my feed 5 years after the fact, but I found it very interesting. I do see a lot of very dark-skinned people with tattoos but unfortunately, they're done so poorly that you can't even see what the tattoo is, just that something appears to be there. Based on this it sounds like they didn't have a competent tattoo artist to provide them with guidance.

Man i just get tattoos during meaningful points in my life i have 3 that don’t matter and after 3 years im kinda ehhh on them but the my love for my meaningful ones has never wavered.
